You may have recently seen the new Google Chrome advert that features the rise of young entrepreneur (in fact 'media mogul' might be a more apt title!) Jamal Edwards and his current and innovative business SBTV. In short, SBTV is a website that broadcasts video interviews, live performances and music promos from a range of major artists including Justin Bieber, Jessie J, Example and Ellie Goulding. As the advert reveals, Jamal first created SBTV as a wee teenager after receiving a video camera for his birthday but through persistence and passion for what he loves, he is now hitting the big time. It just shows that if you want something badly enough and are willing to graft, you too can achieve great things like Jamal. If you have not yet checked out the website, click here to view Jamal's work. Like me, I think you'll be hooked!

Business Boom Bolton has recently spoken to local lecturer and entrepreneur Julie Haslam about her home accessories company Domestic Bliss.

As a senior lecturer of textiles at the Manchester Metropolitan University as well as the founder of Domestic Bliss, it is fair to say that Julie Haslam is well experienced in the creative industry. It is not only this, however, that sets Julie apart; when you speak to her about her profession, it is clear that Julie has always had a passion for textiles which truly resonates with her students and customers alike. Since 2003, she has been selling and exhibiting her intriguing and bespoke products all around the world and is due for further exhibitions in Spinningfields, Manchester and across the nation on tour in October and November respectively.  Julie told Business Boom that the inspiration for her nostalgic designs came about quite suddenly, explaining that she "discovered an old hand-written notebook that belonged to my grandmother which included various recipes and shopping lists. The way it's written in such a nonchalant manner, the content itself as well as the book's fragility all give a sense of family, home and tradition and of course, an idea of what people bought in the early 20th century!" The range of products includes tea towels, napkins, silk cushions, aprons and more that would look great in any household.

If you have not yet come across Julie Haslam's textile designs, check them out at her website at http://www.juliehaslam.co.uk/.

Business Boom Bolton can now disclose more information about the soon-to-be unveiled high street recording studio in Bolton!

As the logo reveals, the studio and website will be named Talent Pool and will be unveiled on Saturday 24th of September on Churchbank, Bolton. The occasion is sure to be a fun-filled event, with local bands including the Lottery Winners (winners of Live and Unsigned 2010!) arranged to provide fantastic entertainment.

Working in partnership with Booths Music, who many musicians already know are on hand to offer composition and accompaniment tuition, the owner of the new studio Tony Aspinall cannot wait to get the ball rolling. Speaking with Mr Aspinall, he told Business Boom Bolton that "Talent Pool offers a more straight forward and accessible approach to studio recording often not found in more commercial and industrious studios. While that is fine for bands, Talent Pool is suitable for everyone and anyone from children to parent and grandparents". Moreover, the unique aspect of the new studio is the fact that "any solo artist, whether he or she is a singer, guitarist, pianist, drummer or any other type of musician can come in, record their stuff on quality equipment with the backing track of their choice". Mr Aspinall also added that "the main thing about Talent Pool is that it will be a day to remember for all involved and the product that you will receive will be something to treasure forever".

If you are a musician who wants a professional recording of your talent and wants to have a unique and exciting experience, come down to the unveiling of Talent Pool on 24th of September for great entertainment and fantastic discounts on recordings.

More information about Talent Pool and their new website will be posted up on the Business Boom Bolton blog in due course!

Business Boom Bolton has recently been in contact with former University of Bolton student and young entrepreneur Roland Martial about his fast up-and-coming clothing company Eau de Mars.
Eau de Mars was first created in 2010 by Roland and colleagues when they realized that many high street fashion brands were quickly losing their identity and individuality. It is upon the sense of ‘individuality’ that the ethos of Eau de Mars is founded and maintained. Their bespoke designs are instantly recognizable and ooze a sense of modernity, quality and distinction that resonates with anyone from the alternative, to the skateboard scene. Speaking to Roland, he makes it clear that he wants to “offer something different to the high street” by providing “unique designs that are constantly evolving” to modern trends. Furthermore, not only does Roland and his team create garments using eco-friendly methods, they employ local artists, printers and models in order to give “that sense of northern identity” and “boost the local economy”.
Having recently been featured in both Front Magazine and Loaded, there is no doubt that their groundbreaking designs will rocket Eau de Mars to success.
For all you fans or those of you who have not yet discovered Eau de Mars, check out their current stock and keep your eyes peeled for new designs at their website http://www.eaudemars.com/.

After the resounding success of Kandahar Break, local director David Whitney and those at Millhouse Films are eager for more from new projects such as Colombia, Flinders and The Guards.

Currently based in Bury, both David Whitney and Millhouse Films were originally set up in Horwich, where they began their journey to stardom with financial help from a local entrepreneurial investor. It was in this location that Kandahar Break, which went on to win the award for best film at both the Philadelphia Independent and the Newport International Film Festivals, was born and produced. The motion picture that is set in Afghanistan and filmed in the southern Pakistan deserts, resonated with movie-fanatics all over the World after being picked up by national and international distributors Revolver and Peace Arch Entertainment respectively. Having tasted
the rewards of hard work and dedication, the local director will be hoping to build on his success with new projects such as Colombia, Flinders and The Guards, the former of which is described on their website as “a thriller set in the Jungles of South America.”

If you enjoyed Kandahar Break, be sure to look out for David Whitney’s new films due to be released in the near future. For more information, visit their website at http://www.millhousefilms.co.uk/.
